Celebrating the 20 year relationship between Safe Passage/Camino Seguro and Rotary

Safe Passage is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering the poorest, at-risk children and families who live around -- and work by scavenging -- the Guatemala City garbage dump. In 1999, founder Hanley Denning from Yarmouth, Maine, began providing access to education, nutrition, social services, and healthcare in a community of over 60,000 people where 1 in 3 residents have never attended school, and most parents' education does not exceed 4th grade. Since Hanley's untimely death in 2007, Safe Passage has grown to provide education, opportunity and hope to over 500 children, ages 3-21, and over 300 families, impacting nearly 3,000 people. This fiscal year we are celebrating our 20th Anniversary and Safe Passage wants to say THANK YOU to those that have helped our students and families through the last 20 years. The Rotary Club International, in tandem with many regional Rotary Clubs, has a big role in Safe Passage’s success story thanks to your ongoing generosity. We would like The Rotary Club of Bangor Breakfast to be part of this historic 20th Anniversary celebration.
