The Rotary Impact :  Change and Transformation

Rotary is more than service—it's a catalyst for change, both in our communities and in our own lives.

Here is my story: When I moved to the Bangor region just three years ago, I didn’t know a single person. I joined Rotary a few months after and the transformation began. There were no explosions or fireworks, it was slow and steady.  Being part of rotary has give me something I deeply needed—a sense of belonging. Week after week, I’ve gotten to know my fellow Rotarians—not just as professionals, but as people. We share stories about our kids, our pets, our vacations, and the ups and downs of life.

Just last week, I attended the Bangor Symphony Orchestra Soirée, and something amazing happened: I saw several Rotary friends there, and instead of just a polite wave, we greeted each other with warmth, introduced our spouses, and had meaningful conversations. In that moment, I realized Rotary had given me more than service opportunities—it had given me a community.

Now, I’d love to hear your Rotary story. How has Rotary impacted you? Has it changed your outlook, created unexpected connections, or given you a new sense of purpose? I’m collecting stories to feature in our May newsletter, and your voice matters. Please send your story to me by April 18th. Whether it’s a small moment or a big transformation, your experience might be just what someone else needs to read.

Let’s continue inspiring each other—one story at a time.

“One of the marvelous things about community is that it enables us to welcome and help people in a way we couldn't as individuals.” – Jean Vanier

Welcome Chase Guerette to our Rotary Club!
Last week, Chase shared his classification talk and gave us a glimpse into his journey—a hardworking country boy with a deep passion for financial wisdom. As a financial advisor at Thompson Financial Group, he’s especially committed to helping young people build smart money habits early, before poor financial patterns take root. Chase is also an active community volunteer, and we’re thrilled to have him as part of our Rotary family!
The last few months, we've had some great speakers!

Christine Hakkola from Hakkola Horizons had an insightful presentation that showed us that AI isn’t just for tech experts—it’s for everyone. From streamlining emails and admin tasks to simplifying content creation and daily workflows, she demonstrated how AI can be a powerful tool to save time and boost efficiency in both business and everyday life.

Daisy Singh from Maine Libraries, shared that Libraries were more than just books—they served as hubs of learning, connection, and innovation. Daisy shared insights on how Maine’s libraries had been adapting to modern challenges, expanding access to resources, and continuing to serve as essential pillars of education and community engagement.

Jenn Goddard from Thriving Proof, shared the value of  breaking through limiting beliefs, building confidence, and creating a thriving, fulfilled life. Jen shared insights on how to cultivate mental strength, develop healthy habits, and unlock your full potential—whether in your career, personal life, or wellness journey.
