Fostering Fellowship: The Key to Strong Rotary Communities

Fellowship is the key of building strong Rotary communities. At the Bangor Breakfast Club, we understand that meaningful connections and relationships are vital for fostering a sense of belonging and unity. This week we have an opportunity to put that in motion with our annual dinner.  It's a night we can create an environment where members feel valued, supported, and motivated to contribute their best. Social gatherings and collaborative service projects are excellent ways to strengthen these bonds. We believe that strong relationships built on trust and friendship empower us to work together more effectively and achieve greater impact.

You can take this same Rotary value and apply it to your workplace.  Fostering fellowship also means embracing diversity and inclusivity.  People will open up when they feel their  voice is heard and valued.  That in turn will create  a more dynamic and resilient team and Rotary club. Together we are building a supportive network that will not only enhance our individual lives but also amplifies our ability to serve others.

If you are committed to creating a culture where fellowship flourishes, here is my challenge to you:

  1. Get to know your Rotary members.  Schedule a one on one meeting to get to know someone you don't normally connect with.
  2. Reach out to someone you haven't seen a while!  It feels good to know someone has missed seeing you.
Terri Adam shared her personal story this past week from her journey to Maine, to her passion for helping students as they transition into school at EMCC.  It was evident how much she cares about the students and clearly how much they appreciate her as well.  Thank you Terri for all you do to make a difference!

The Power of Mentorship

Dr. Barbara Stewart from the Bangor High School brought 2 students this month to our Rotary, who both presented the incredible work they have done in conjunction with the school and the Public Works department.   Nora Lin, shared a comparative study of Commerical Compost and the CoB Compost.  It was well done and informative. Paige Sornberger showed us her work on the Beech Leaf Disease and the impact it will have on our Maine forests.   Both girls showcased their passion and evidence of their work but were also very thankful for both of you (Aaron and Ben) in helping them with their projects.

It made me pause and think how many quiet, behind the scenes transactions happen that are integral in the success of someone.  These girls are young, but someday they will become very successful, and we had the opportunity to watch them begin to blossom.

As we say farewell to our beloved president, Tom Violette, we want to express our deepest gratitude for his remarkable leadership and unwavering dedication to our Rotary community. During his term, Tom embodied the true spirit of "Service Above Self," inspiring us all with his passion, integrity, and tireless efforts to make a positive impact. While we will greatly miss his presence, we understand his decision to move closer to his family, and we wish him all the best in this new chapter. Tom, your legacy of service, fellowship, and leadership will continue to inspire us for years to come.

Thank you for everything.

“We are not put on this earth for ourselves, but are placed here for each other. If you are there always for others, then in time of need, someone will be there for you.”
